BSF Site Calculator

The web-based cost model is an online tool that assumes a central plant with all units integrated in one facility and focuses on calculating the estimation of operational cost per unit of a selected BSF product. The benefit of using this tool is you do not need to be an expert, by being a BSF enthusiast that wants to explore how to operate a BSF facility, how much product, and what production cost you might expect is enough. To operate the tool, you can select a scale of operation by filling in the amount of waste that shall be treated, what BSF products shall be sold, and the nursery parameter, as well as some additional unit costs given the local context (labour costs, utility costs, building rent, etc.). The default values of this tool are based on the experience from the pilot BSF facility in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, but you can adjust them according to your need. The output of this tool is a flowchart through different processing units besides the estimated costs.
